Frequent Urination and Chronic Urinary Tract Infections

Many women come to see me for menstrual issues, and concurrently have bladder issues. Either they have frequent urination, recurrent bladder infections, or a condition called Interstitial Cystitis. Often times these symptoms occur because the uterus is tilted and applying excess pressure to the bladder, creating a situation where the bladder cannot hold as much urine or the urine does not completely empty regularly from the bladder, leaving old stagnant urine, making the bladder and urinary tract prone to infection.

For many women who are prone to urinary tract infections, sexual penetration can be a trigger, or “the straw that breaks the camels back”. The position of the uterus leaves us vulnerable and then the physical act of penetration pushes bacteria further up the tract. Because of the connection between the kidneys and bladder, and the fact that kidneys often hold the energy of fear and anxiety in the body, we often see that women with this health issue have anxiety patterns, in general, as well as specifically around sexual intimacy.

Maya Abdominal Massage alleviates frequent urination, chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs), symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis and the concurrent anxiety patterns in a couple of distinct ways. It repositions the uterus so that it is not pressing on the bladder, alleviating the physical manifestations of illness. Maya Abdominal Massage also eases tension in the upper belly, enabling us to breath more deeply, and slowly and gently heal our anxiety patterns.
